On to Paros

Friday May 31st we took a ferry from the port of Piraeus near Athens to the island of Paros, and joined the rest of the gang to prepare for our sailing adventure.  We were all booked into a small hotel right across from the beach and close to the yacht harbor in Parikia,

We had a couple of days to explore Paros.  Saturday Ellen and I took a hike following the bay all the way around to its southeastern end.  The trail was along paths above the water and across several beaches (we stopped to swim at one).

Looking back to Parikia

Later in the afternoon we walked around the old section of Parikia, a maze of stone alleyways.

Sunday we rented small ATVs with Dave and Kathie to explore the northern end of Paros and hike to the lighthouse there.  While we were at the lighthouse we saw our boat, the Vitamin Sea,  coming around the point on its return to Parikia.  After the hike we took a swim in the bay near Naousa.

In the evening we packed up to be ready to meet our skipper at the yacht harbor early Monday morning.
